The Red Kite Challenge is an established, annual series of running and walking events with the profits going to our local hospital. Events include junior (U20, U17, U15) & senior trail running races and also includes walking and primary children's events. Independent events are held over 2 days allowing participants to enter on either one or both days.
For this year's Red Kite Challenge (the Saturday ½ marathon), we are honoured to have been given responsability to hold the UK Athletics Short Course Trail Championships. The first three males and first three females will receive UK Championship medals. As for the junior runners and masters category winners they will receive TRA Championships medals.
For day-1, to go with the medals, there will be numerous prizes.
For day-2 there will be prizes for the 1st three and category winners.
Each day there will be a special momento for all the finishers.
For those that do both days there will be additional category awards based on cumulative times.
N.B. either 2 ½ marathons or 2 10ks.
There will be race marshals, feed & water stations, a refreshment tent and first aid provision.
Our event, one of the most scenic trail races in Britain, is held around the spectacular area of Devil's Bridge which is about 20km East of Aberystwyth in West Wales
Devil's Bridge is famous for its narrow guage railway, the Mynach Falls, the three bridges and 'The Arch' which is the watershed to the river Rheidol and river Ystwyth. For officionardos of popular culture parts of the popular detective series 'Hinterland' were filmed in the area.
